Visit LikeTelevision Here's what I believe is the full version of a low budget, somewhat gory for the time, horror film from '73 that came bubbling up in conversation last week while I was at Crypt Leak and Abbygal 's a week ago. Mostly remembered for a few eccentric performances, it was a scene at the 18 minute mark on this presentation which came to mind, btw. Known alternately as Don't Go in the Basement , The Forgotten , Death Ward #13 and here in the states as Don't Look in the Basement . I haven't re-watched the entire thing, but this appears to be the version released in the US, at least according to the stated running time and the titles. An odd item to suddenly break blog silence with, but as I came across it while following the trail of something very far afield of it this early Saturday morning, I thought... "Why not?...

At the Movies! Well, the less said about Epic Movie the better. It was a morning matinee. Mistakes were made. I'm better now. Really. Rather than belabor that, instead I'll queue off the movie checklist Mark Gibson linked to as a measure of one's movie buffdom, branching eventually off to the American Film Institute's 100 Greatest Movies list, which I'd seen before but hadn't run through. Me? I was a little surprised to find that I'd seen so many of them over the years. I've marked them as follows: * = Those I've seen X = Those I'm unlikely to ever watch, including ones I've already seen and have no desire to watch again. GONE WITH THE WIND (1939) * X 5. LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962) * ! 6. THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) * ! 7. THE GRADUATE (1967) * ! 8. ON THE WA...

For this I'm likely to be leaning on comics adaptations, brainless action films, appropriate bits of horror, spectacles, etc. I'm sure there will be many other, far superior movies coming out this year -- some of which I might even get out to see -- but these are the ones I know about now . Something that technically came out (in limited release)just before the end of 2006, that I'm considering going to see Sunday (today) is Guilllermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth . Okay, I've been needing a shoot 'em up action film, even if almost mindless, and it appears that Smokin' Aces may be the first one of 2007 -- I don't care if IMDB says it was scheduled for 2006, it's coming out January 26th. At least it appears to have a good cast. A contender of a different stripe, a likely lowbrow comedy, comes out the same weekend. I...
