Sniff the Savior

Mark Gibson, with a little memory jog from Bill Maher, is spreading the word of "Jesus-scented" candles being marketed to some stripe of Christian.

Part of the ad copy reads as follows:
The scent was inspired by Psalm 45:8 - "All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia...".
My suspicion is that such scents were relatively common luxuries among the wealthy of that time. Not much of a point there, I suppose, but I can't help reading such things as part of a stylized, somewhat heavenly ideal and thinking of "The Big Rock Candy Mountain."
