Who does this government serve?

Fairly clearly, not us.

Our new Treasury Secretary, Paul Snow sees benefit programs for US citizens as a threat to the economy, while the super-rich (including some of the trop contributors to the Bush campaigns) continue to keep as much as $70 billion annually out of our treasury via tax fraud perpetrated using off-shore accounts.

Now, I'm just a simple citizen who hasn't managed to crack into the six figure income bracket, but it seems to me that we have the makings of at least the solution to the former as a consequence of addressing and fixing the latter.

No time for more than that just now, but I wanted to float that for any passersby and to note for the Fox- & GOP-programmed that, yes, this is class warfare.

This government serves the same group as all governments serve, unfortunately. Sometimes we go through brief phases when times are so prosperous, our masters decide to toss us a few bones. It keeps us quiet through the bleaker times, when they're hoarding all the gravy for themselves... we remember the good ol' days, and hope for their return. Eventually, they do come back... briefly, and in passing.

Still, I suppose America is really the first place where we've managed to get them to give us even a transient cycle of relative comfort. I suppose if the corporate owned illusion of capitalism has any upside, it's that we're wearing the most comfortable chains in the history of mankind.
