Bush's increased abandonment of Church & State separations

Yes, we've known about this for days, but I couldn't let it all pass without underscoring it:

The Bush White House is pushing for legislation to allow religious organizations to maintain their tax-exempt status while allowing them to enter the realm of overt political action, all the while speaking out of the other side of his mouth about the importance of maintaining a separation of church and state.

This is coming close on the heels of Bush's recent Vatican visit, where he pressed for Catholic bishops in the U.S. to be more politically outspoken in their support of Bush's stances on abortion and gay marriage.
