I nicked this from the "Something doesn't belong here" thread - thanks, Yammering Splat Vector. Replacing Toto with the recently deceased world's ugliest dog - Sam - was inspired.

Heh. I did a double-take before reading the text here. I had heard the news story about Sam. I kind of liked the one with Paris Hilton in the library. But I really liked the one that wasn't photoshopped...of Dubya in the oval office. Choice. You picked this one for your wallpaper, huh? Freaky, Mike.

It struck me as both funny and well-executed (sorry, Sam) so I went with it. The previous wallpaper was a photoshop of a cat who was on his hind legs, smiling at a poodle he'd trapped in an oven using a sign that said "Free dog food." That had gotten old, so I went with this for my screen at work.

The W ones (there were two or three before it finished)in office were good choices but entirely too depressing, especially out of context.

At eBay! Just a note that Tony Collett has a an assortment of toys, action figures, comics and games coming down to their final minutes on ebay . (Sorry for forgetting to note this earlier, Tony. It seemed as if they'd just gone up and here we are near the end.) Also, Mike Leuszler's ebay store has an interesting mix of games, comics, prints, etc. I'll finally be putting some more items (probably only clix) up within the next day or two. Last week's power outage threw my schedule far off, and there were some complications due to me selling something large for someone else.

Bids & Pieces Email from eBay this morning informs me of price increases that will be going into effect starting midnight, February 18th. They currently hit sellers up for 5.25% of the closing value on items that sell between $.01 and $25, plus 3.75% for the portion between $25.01 and $1,000. The new rate will be a hefty jump to 8% on that base amount and a near doubling of the next level to 5%. There are other changes, but that’s the core set of changes I’m concerned with. This may be the extra fire I needed under me to get that long-overdue new round of auctions up and running soon. Heroclix items will be the focus, but I might also put up comics for the first time in several years, and perhaps some other things. Making the selections, doing some set-up between now and the 21st, and running a wall of auctions starting either that night or on the 22nd -- that's the loose plan.       As I've mentioned various times (and will many times again), part of a selective rebuild of my comics collection in large-format hardcovers, with a particular eye on the horizon of that life-transition clumsily called "retirement", has primarily been Omnibus editions.        Perhaps foolishly I've mostly been just accumulating them rather than digging straight in, as I'm looking forward to days when my time will rarely be beholden to anyone I don't in some way love, and I can try to discover if I'm capable of recapturing some version of those long-ago years when I had the time to get lost in this sort of thing when and as long as I wished.       There's a whole other quality of life, and the building of a life I want to live discussion I need to have with myself that relates to the timing of all this, but today's blog entry ain't for that.       This week's sole new addition to the physical library is ...
