Well, at least someone won in the Civil War
No, I haven't seen this week's comics yet, as this week's comics won't make their way to me until probably March 3rd, though I'll likely get to read a borrowed copy of Civil War #7 tomorrow. However, tonight I came home with some cool items from a local venue's Marvel Civil War-themed tournament.
Short story shorter - because I'm tired and want to do a few other things before dropping off to sleep - I came home with:
A Nathaniel Richards LE
While not Kang, despite the sculpt, this is the time and reality-traveling father of Reed Richards - the Fantastic Four's Mister Fantastic.
Starting with an 18 Defense with Mastermind, a 10 Speed with Phasing/Teleport, 12 Attack Value with Energy Explosion and a 3 Damage with Ranged Combat expert, this 167 point piece also has the Minions of Doom wildcard TA.
Having an 8 Range like the rookie and veteran Kangs, but only a single target it's a less martial piece than Kang, which is fitting. Nonetheless, this 8-click dial remains useful, often potentially in more than one way, for every one of its clicks.
His Attack Values remain strong, dropping 1 per click until reaching 9 on the fifth click, and then remaining steady through the remaining three. The opening Energy Explosion stays through the third click, is replaced by Incapacitate on clicks four and five, EE returns for six and seven and on the final click he gets a penetrating Psychic Blast.
After the opening click of 10 Speed and Phasing/Teleport - the fastest point on his dial - he gets two clicks of Running Shot and 8 Speed. His remaining Speed values gradually drop to 6 without any special movement powers. He retains flight, though, so terrain isn't an issue for him.
Following the opening click of 18 Defense and Mastermind, Nate's Defense drops to 16 for two clicks with Invulnerability, reducing incoming damage from a successful hit by 2. The next three clicks *16, 15, 15) receive Energy Shield/Deflection, raising the Defense Value of each by 2 from range. The final two clicks see the Defense rise to 16 and then 17 with Willpower, so he's freer to act, being able to move or attack in two successive turns without taking any pushing damage.
His Damage Values open with two clicks of 3 Damage, three of 2 and then back up to 3 for the final three clicks. Ranged Combat Expert on the first and third clicks will raise the Damage by 2 from a standing attack. The second, fourth, fifth and eighth clicks all have Perplex, which he can use to his own advantage or that of one of his allies.
Hardly a game-breaking, must-have piece, it's nonetheless a good addition to the collection.
Also coming home with me, just a little earlier than I expected, was a New Guy Night Wonder Woman:
...a Golden Age, first appearance piece I wrote about a back on January 19th. (Well down the page.)
Also, I now have a copy of the JSA Museum map, with a set poster for Origin on the other side.
All very attractive additions.
