More Heroclix marketing

In a continued push to keep the fan buzz going, Wizkids revealed three new team abilities scheduled to show up in next March's DC expansion: Legacy.

Calculator: Members of this team act as wild cards. They can use any team ability that any friendly character on the battle map possesses. They may use this ability once each action.

Outsiders:
Once at the beginning of your turn as a free action, a member of this team chooses a target friendly or opposing character within 10 squares; the member must have clear line of fire to the target. Until the beginning of your next turn, the target may not be the target of powers or team abilities that modify its combat values. This team ability may not be copied by wild card team abilities.

Crime Syndicate:
Members of this team have Probability Control. Each time a member uses this ability to reroll a die or dice roll, give an action token to a friendly character that has zero or one action token. This team ability may not be copied by wild card team abilities.

The minor irony of having DC finally include a generic wild card team ability alongside two others that cannot be copied by wildcards is something that doesn't bother me. Especially with respect to the Crime Syndicate's TA, as it grants probability control, it's not something I'd be anxious to see flare up left and right in games. Similarly, the Outsiders' ability to stop a character's dial from being modified is a cool finesse element to a game, but too much of it could be a bother.

I'm primarily happy to see that they're not only attempting to retain some creativity with new TAs but hope that "Calculator" is the start of a wave of TAs that don't attempt to tie them to some specific team. (i.e. Someone shouldn't have to be tied to either Superman or the Ultimates in order to be able to see Stealthed figures and ignore hindering terrain, for instance, yet at the moment that's what has to happen because they made a decision while developing the game to tie teams to special powers.)
