New Vision?

The details and card artwork for a Feat from November's Armor Wars Heroclix expansion's been revealed...

and the artwork on this Nanobots card shows what very much appears to be The Vision. Currently there is still a version of The Vision in the game, as it first appeared in Infinity Challenge it was reprinted (along with the rest of that set's uniques) in Universe. The piece was long left to collect dust due to the lack of move & attack powers and the Damage maxing out at 2. His stats remain wonderfully steady, though. With the addition of Legacy's Armor Piercing and the Thunderbolts replacement TA card that came in Fantastic Forces, enabling him (as an Avenger) to have a different team ability -- Batman's built in Stealth TA is terrific for this in most cases, protecting him from most ranged attacks) he's a reliable damage-dealer. The current version meets the criteria for this card, and as it's still legal that may be all there is to it.

The Shake Off card has the Hulk featured on it despite not only is no version of the character a giant or a transporter (prerequisites for the card) but the set the card in was the first Marvel set to date without any Hulk in it -- so taken with the Vision likely remaining tournament legal until roughly a year from now that may be all there is to it.

As for Nanobots card, it offers some fun possibilities. Another use for objects, it'll likely encourage home and informal games to place more objects on the map than the game-mandated six. I'll be tempted to apply it to some appropriately villainous/alien/monstrous characters and allow them to disintigrate and absorb bystanders...

Hey, this is a great site you have here!

I happened to notice the line quoted in your title, attributed to John Hammond, was actually first written and performed by Tom Waits on his album, Heart Attack and Vine.

Great album, by the way. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the compliment and the correction, Mark!

I was listening to Radio Paradise (listed over under the "If I'm online and listening..." section to the right) where they list the title and artist of the songs they've played for the past several hours. It was a new one to me -- including Hammond himself -- and I took it at face value. What's funny is that it sounded like something Tom Waits would do.

Yeah, I saw "Nanobots" late last night. Looks like a good way to use up objects. For what it's worth, the SuperKids and I always play with ALL the object tokens we have (18, from the DC, Marvel, and Indy starter sets), because, you know, if you're running someone with Super Strength, you just gotta have toys to hit people with.

In fact, sometimes, on a map with cars drawn on, we put out Hot Wheels on top of the drawn on cars, so we can pick those up and hurl them about in the best Silver Age/DESTROY! tradition.

You can't have enough objects, as far as I'm concerned. And Nanobots will make that truer than ever.

I'm all for more objects, but I don't expect Wizkids to change the six object ruling unless they're prepared to put more than that in the starters.

Idle question: When someone uses a car as a weapon, and hurls it a few spaces away, do you consider that space to now be clear terrain or do you park a new car there since one's still printed on the map?

We blank out the painted on car with rubble markers, which we understand to actually denote 'clear' terrain. We find it doubtful anyone would be parking cars in the middle of a vast super-brawl.

I don't know... New Yorkers may not be able to resist an open parking space! ;)

I wonder how far-ranging clauses in automobile insurance policies are on Earths DC & Marvel? If one lives within 100 miles of a major city do they have a clause that requires a higher premium or denies full coverage if one operates or otherwise places a car at any time within the city limits? Would people looking to get rid of their car -- the next inspection's coming up and the mechanic's already told them the brakes and exhaust are nearly shot and the transmission's about to go -- would be driving it into New York and see how close they can park to Avengers Mansion -- well, when there was an Avengers Mansion?

Maybe make faces at the Hulk while running behind the car?

I'm thinking every auto insurance policy written in any superhuman metareality has an 'act of God or superhumans' clause that voids coverage. You can most likely get a rider to cover superhuman damage, but I'd imagine it cranks your premium up enormously if you live within 100 miles of New York City.

You're probably right about the open parking spaces in downtown Metropolis/Gotham/New York, though. Now that I think of it, the instant the Sub-Mariner scoops up a car and heaves it at Thor, some benighted Manhattanite is going to shout "SCORE!" and slam his SUV into the suddenly open space.

In fact, I'm thinking there should be some mechanism in place to randomly check how MANY passing motorists suddenly swerve for the space... and how bloody the resulting street brawl gets.
