More "Mutant Mayhem" info (HeroClix news)
The Good, Bad & Indifferent

According to one post some early information from a distributor concerning next November's "Mutant Mayhem" Marvel HeroClix expansion (which I first mentioned last Friday) reads as follows (highlighted text is the new information):

"Marvel HeroClix: Mutant Mayhem mixes heroes and villains from different times, dimensions, and worlds across the Marvel Universe. Mutant Mayhem promises to bring the HeroClix game to a whole new level of fun. The set includes 97 figures, including an oversized Ultimate Giant-Man figure, and adds a new game mechanic to the HeroClix game: cards that include, character tokens, battlefield conditions, and feats!
Collectors will clamor for Mutant Mayhem as they seek the extremely rare "MasterPiece" figures, a fully-playable Spider-Man from the Mutant Mayhem set, professionally painted and individually numbered with a signed Certificate of Authenticity!

Contents
4 randomly inserted Marvel HeroClix: Mutant Mayhem miniatures
One Feat card, Battlefield Condition card, or Bystander Token included."

The good news is that they're doing some form of Giant-Man, and doing him just as the Bat Sentry was done in the most recent DC set, Unleashed. This means that he's not only appropriately twice as tall as a standard game piece, but he'll be more common than any of the usual uniques, as every case will contain one.

The bad news is that it'll be a sculpt based on the Ultimates version, which appeals to me neither aesthetically nor historically. Still, this could be the push to get me to do some repainting and modifications with a setting putty. Turning that into either a classic version or a more modern one shouldn't be terribly difficult.

The indifferent news regards the "masterpiece" edition - a "collectible" chase piece. If I'm reading the ad copy correctly they've struck the best compromise by making it a specially-painted and numbered version of a clix piece found elsewhere in the set, so from a player's perspective not getting one is no loss. Should I happen to pull one the resale of it could help defray the cost of my buy, while if I don't get one it won't bother me in the least.
