A little happy Batman news

Coming along in the same week as the announcement of another project involving Batman (
All-Star Batman, as
mentioned a couple days ago) word hit me early today -- first via an email from
Handsome (that's just a link to his site; he hasn't mentioned it there as of this writing), then over on
Tony Collett's blog, and finally with some confirmation of those same details
over here (from three days ago -- but I don't make a routine of looking for comics news) -- that one of the classic Batman teams,
Steve Englehart and
Marshall Rogers (with inks by
Terry Austen) will be be producing a 6-issue limited series titled
Dark Detective. It'll be interesting to see this team working together again after all these years -- as best I can tell they last worked together on Batman & friends back in '77 & '78. I generally wait for trade collections, especially on mini-series, but this looks like the sort of thing I'll get in its comics form rather than waiting for a trade. That's apparently coming sometime this summer, when they'll be hyping all things Batman as part of the cross-promotional blitz with
Batman Begins, the first live-action Batman movie in 8 years.
The bit of original comics work seen here is by Rogers form back in the day. As for Steve Englehart, well, I can direct you to
his own site, or I can direct you to something
Handsome produced a couple years back with Jeff Clem, complete with annotations by Steve himself:
Doing Comics the Stainless Steve Englehart Way.
