Money, Fame, Almost Seven Years
Younger Than Me... and Dead

Hey... I won!

Autopsy tomorrow, but I see that Anna Nicole Smith has died.

I'm sure that this will bury all important news within the next few hours. Depending on how soon tomorrow's autopsy brings back any results -- and what they are -- this could bury quite a bit into the weekend.

Well, hey... it's working on me, too. Pure spectacle, we don't have to waste much energy on it.

And, hey... stop staring, you necrophile. You're creeping me out.

I just had to say that that's a pic I NEVER thought I'd see on this blog!

Couldn't help but hear the news (and go as far as speculate about the cause, too). My heart goes out to her infant daughter. Caught in a custody case from birth, what happens to her now?

MUCH less of interest is who will get the money. It was bad enough when Anna was playing the distraught widow suing her husband's children for the money. Now, we'll have to watch as her lawyer, her baby daddy, and whomever becomes the guardian for the child, duke it out. Sometimes, you just really need to fast forward...

Do a Google image search under her name and you'll immediately see I chose one of the... family friendlier versions.

The infant element is part of what gives this story some legs, as it's a humanizing hook to keep it all from being immediately dismissed as the sordid aftermath of the life of a gold digger.

I say we let Anna Nichole Smith's heirs battle it out with James Brown's heirs, in an arena match where both teams are armed with flamethrowers and grenades. Winner take all, and if none survive, then it goes to some shelter for abused children somewhere.

A solution worthy of Solomon! (Or at least Solomon Grundy in one of his more lucid incarnations.) If only Anna did this a couple months earlier FOX could have built something for the February sweeps.

I was a little surprised how easy it was to avoid more updates Friday, but now that I look I suppose it's such a multi-headed legal monster, between the lack of a definitive call from the coroner and with bizarre paternity claims being made, that the wheels are turning slowly.

May they grind quietly.
