Crypt Leak sent me a link to a Newsweek article on the religious beliefs of various superheroes, set to appear in the June 19th issue.

Beyond the obvious Superman-as-Christ-figure concept it's at least partially a Garbage In/Garbage Out piece as they defer to Beliefnet.com, drawing from adherents.com where they lump the mainstream Captain America in with the Ultimates version - a significantly different character - as if, combined, they made a single character and argument.

Don't mind me, I always get cranky on these issues. Having various writers decide to express themselves and their beliefs by retroactively inserting those characteristics into the history of characters they didn't create, some of which have been around not merely for years but decades... well, it goes down as well with me as having nearly everyone suddenly being written as coming out of the closet.
