86,400 Seconds To Shine

October 7th is the next 24 Hour Comics Day.

The challenge is simple: In a 24 hour period create a 24-page comic book. That's it. Check the link for more details.

This year... I might attempt it.

Yes, I'd like to participate, too. My local comic shop is listed as a participant.
It's going to depend on if I have employment. Plus, it's on a Saturday, when I have to take the wife to work just before 5am and pick her up around 1pm. So if I do participate, that's gonna take a chunk of time out of it.
Plus if you do it at one of the locations there's the having someone drive you home so you don't drive sleepy. I know you can do it anywhere, but participating where others are doing it (even for a little while) sounds fun, and there's the encouragement of your fellow artists.

I've been considering that group angle, too. The spot in PA (Wade's Comic Madness) is one back in the area we moved from in 2001, most of an hour from here, but even though it's generally 6 months or more between times I manage to stop in Wade still greets me by name. Theoretically I could go there and crash as necessary at my mom's place, which is less than 5 minutes away.

Realistically judging my illustration skills, though, I anticipate I'll be using my computer for too much of the process, and I won't want to try to load my tools onto my wife's laptop and also deprive her of that use for a day. None of that would address issues of printing and/or scanning.

So, at this stage I'm expecting to be doing it solo if I'm going to do it. That's 3 1/2 weeks away (and also happens to be the next Legends deadline, so I'll need to get that out of the way), so I'll make my decision about it once I'm close enough to that weekend to be reasonably sure it'll be clear.

(Glad to see you've made it back to the keys.)

As for 24 Hour Comics Day I'll have a much better idea of whether or not I'm going to be able to swing that... about three weeks from now. If I do it I'll scan and post the results.

Big, hairy feet. Alka Seltzer. Visine. Adult Diapers optional, but suggested. At the Alamo Downtdown in Austin TX, yesterday they held a special event: The Hobbit Feast . Exective chef John Bullington has created a seven meal feast, one for each of the different hobbit mealtimes (1st breakfast, 2nd breakfast, elevensies, etc.), spread out over the twelve hours it takes to watch the entire middle earth trilogy. Interpreted from actual meals referenced in the books, the Hobbit Feast is the ultimate Lord of the Rings sensory experience. These seven meals accompany a screening of the three Lord of the Rings films, spaced with 30 minute breaks between them, including the credits. Omni-Adds week of October 8th

     A fairly brief nod toward t his past week's pair of additions to my library.       The fourth volume (of five) of Brubaker's Captain America run, and the all-in-one collection of Peter David's run of Captain Marvel stories, following the tale of Genis-Vell, son of (Marvel's) first Captain Marvel.       Each of these were series I only read once, as each was coming out, each with likely even less attention than I realized at the time. (Which I've been realizing again and again is true for entirely too much of my unfortunately distracted adult life.)       The Captain America volume is 928 pages, and while I recall some of the specifics it's receded to a blur in memory. The fifth volume, wrapping up Brubaker's run with the character, will be coming out within the next month or so if memory serves.       The Captain Marvel tome is 1400 pages, covering some sixty one issues, between his...
