Who?

While Tony Collett alerted us waaay back on August 11th, I want to remind everyone interested that the US broadcast of the second season of the new/current run of Dr. Who begins tonight at 8pm.

It's unfortunate that Christopher Eccleston decided to bow out at the end of the first season -- he made a very entertaining, personable Doctor, who was conflicted between his empathy and his deep sense of loss and a sense that everything and everyone passed away.

Tonight we'll start to get a sense of whether or not David Tennant can do as well.

I might have enjoyed it, but it was "date night" around here. Honestly, while the company I was keeping was quite pleasant, I'm thinking I'd have rather watched this show than the movie we saw.

Whenever someone says "date night" I immediately think of the relatively recent version of Dawn of the Dead. "Date Night" was what kept two characters occupied so they missed the breaking news reports that were coming through on tv and so didn't have any warning.

By this formula a girl's bitten H on the neck and this morning you'd either be driving furiously all over town or are trying to get into a mall.

Still, with all you've signed yourself up for this weekend, a road trip coming up towards the end of next week and everything you'll need to get done in between you needed to take some quiet time when you could.

As for the new season of Dr. Who SCI-FI did what they did when they launched the first season over here: show the first two, new (to us) episodes back to back, and the first one was (with commercials) 90 minutes long.

"The Christmas Invasion" and "New Earth" were both enjoyable, kicking the new season and new lead actor off to an enjoyable start.
